TAYLOR AND POLEON BACK IN CONTENTION

3 August 2017

City attacking duo Paul Taylor and Dominic Poleon could play some part in Saturday's season opener with Blackpool after returning to training.

Taylor and Poleon have been troubled with minor injures in recent weeks but they both took part in training with the rest of the group this Thursday.

A lack of match minutes in recent weeks could count against the two forwards when McCall draws up his plans for the weekend, but the City chief is still encouraged to see progress being made by the pair.

Fellow striker Charlie Wyke won't be involved against the Tangerines, however, with McCall saying City don't want to force the front-man back too soon.

McCall said: "Both Tayls and Dom (Poleon) joined in with training today (Thursday).

"It has been frustrating in pre-season with a few of the lads getting little niggling injuries.

"We need to get game-time into some of them but it is looking a bit better now on the injury-front.

"Unfortunately though, Saturday will come too soon for Charlie (Wyke).

"He is on the road to recovery. We would have liked it to have been a bit quicker but you can't rush some injuries.

"We certainly don't want to risk a set-back with him.

"He is disappointed but the league season is 46 games long. If it means him missing one or two to get himself fine, then so be it."
