BIG MATCH PREVIEW - MILLWALL (A)

2 September 2016

Millwall (AWAY), The Den, Sky Bet League One, Saturday 3 September 2016

The Bantams look to continue their unbeaten start to the league season when they travel to the capital to take on Millwall at The Den this Saturday.

For opponents Millwall, their mantra over the summer months appears to have simply been 'evolution, not revolution'.

Millwall made three major summer signings but right winger David Worrall, signed in June from Southend United, appears to be the only new Lion to have consistently broke through into Neil Harris' side from last season.

Centre half Mark Beevers left for Bolton Wanderers in July, with the defender replaced in the side by Millwall favourite Tony Craig.

The Lions have managed to retain the services of key strikers Steve Morison and Lee Gregory, both of whom featured heavily in the scoring stakes last season.

Although they were one of the few sides inactive on transfer deadline day this week, Millwall did recently bolstered their ranks with the signing of Burton Albion's Calum Butcher, the midfielder starting last weekend's 3-1 win at Chesterfield from the bench.

The Lions tasted defeat in the Play-Off Final against Barnsley at the end of the 2015/2016 campaign having beaten the Bantams in the semi-finals.

Previous meetings
City have drawn their last three visits to The Den.

The Bantams registered an entertaining 3-3 with Millwall in the FA Cup third round back in January 2015, Billy Knott netting twice that day for City in the action-packed six-goal tie.

Last season, City and Millwall played out a goalless draw in the league last autumn.

The two sides, of course, met again at The Den at the back end of the campaign in the second leg of the League One Play-Off semi-final.

Although Millwall eventually ended up winning the tie by an overall 4-2 scoreline, City claimed a 1-1 draw on the night thanks to Jamie Proctor's equaliser towards the end of the first half.

Team News

Millwall
Hosts Millwall will need to assess the fitness of both left back Joe Martin and striker Lee Gregory.

Martin came off injured at Chesterfield while Gregory hasn't featured since Millwall's previous home league game - the 2-1 win over Sheffield United - due to a hip problem.

Calum Butcher and Fred Onyedinma will also be checked pre-match due to recent knocks.

The Lions will definitely be without Jimmy Abdou, Shane Ferguson and Kris Twardek because of international duty. Shaun Cummings (knee) and Shaun Hutchinson (hamstring) are unavailable as well due to injury.

Bradford City
Stuart McCall will have to make some selection decisions ahead of City's trip to The Den.

Josh Cullen is definitely ruled out due to international duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, although defensive duo Stephen Darby and Matthew Kilgallon could be involved after featuring against Stoke City in midweek in the Checkatrade Trophy.

City will look to introduce deadline day signings Marc McNulty and Haris Vuckic at the weekend. Fellow forward James Hanson will also hope to be involved following a recent calf problem.

Rory McArdle is believed to be a week or so away from a possible return after a summer recuperating from shoulder and groin injuries. Nathan Clarke (calf) and Tony McMahon (thigh) are still sidelined.

Vincent Rabiega is a doubt after taking a whack to his thigh during the Stoke game on Tuesday night.
