CITY SECURE LOAN MOVE FOR HIWULA

15 July 2016

The Bantams have added to their attacking options ahead of the new campaign by securing a season-long loan deal for Huddersfield Town striker Jordy Hiwula.

The 21 year-old completed the necessary paperwork this Friday to become City boss Stuart McCall's fifth signing of the summer.

Hiwula is now expected to join up with the rest of McCall's squad for Saturday's friendly at Gateshead and their subsequent week-long stay in Scotland.

Speaking to Bantams Player HD after completing his loan move across West Yorkshire, Hiwula said: "‘I’ve played here a few times and every time I’ve played here the crowd have been magnificent.

"When I spoke to the manager, he had a keen interest in bringing me to the club, I’d say those were the two key factors in the reason for me deciding to come to Bradford.

"I just can’t wait to get started especially knowing that the first game of the season is going to be in front of the home crowd, I know that it’s a great atmosphere here.

"I think the way that Bradford play will suit the way I play as well. I like coming short, getting on the ball and linking up the play, but I also like stretching defences and playing in behind.

‘When I heard about the move, I spoke to Nahki (Wells) and asked him what’s it like at Bradford and what’s everyone like around the club, and he said that I’ll love every minute and to go and enjoy it; that’s what I’m willing to do, to come here and enjoy my football."

The pacey and athletic striker has plenty of recent experience of Sky Bet League One having enjoyed loan spells last season with promotion contenders Wigan Athletic and Walsall.

The forward, whose full name is Jordy Hiwula Mayifuila, also featured for Walsall in a loan period at the end of the 2014/2015 season, scoring nine goals in nineteen appearances.

Born in Manchester, Hiwula started his professional career with Manchester City, signing his first senior contract at the Ethiad Stadium in 2014 following twenty goals in thirty-one games for their U21s.

During his time with Man City, Hiwula also played for Yeovil Town on loan.

Hiwula has been capped at Under-18 and Under-19 level for England.
