Nicky Law's second half leveller ensured Stuart McCall's Bantams ended 2016 with a point in their pocket following a 1-1 draw with Bury at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Law swooped to fire home seven minutes into the break to cancel out Scott Burgess' well-taken opener for the visitors before the break.

The midfielder netted his third goal of the season when he pounced on the rebound to score after Bury shot-stopper Rob Lainton had repelled a Jordy Hiwula shot.

City's best chance of the first period ahead of Burgess' goal came midway through the half when James Hanson's downward header was repelled by a fine low save from Lainton.

Hiwula had also seen a close range effort blocked out for the Bantams barely seconds before Bury broke the deadlock.

In truth, City were far from their best in the opening period but they improved after the restart to dominate proceedings thereafter.

Following Law's equaliser, City pushed hard for a winner, especially in the game's latter stages.

Hanson glanced a header wide from a Matthew Kilgallon cross, while substitute Marc McNulty twice went close himself but McCall's men couldn't quite find that all-important second goal to force the win.
