The Bantams played out an entertaining goalless draw with Charlton Athletic at the Northern Commercials Stadium this Saturday.

Both sides had their chances in an open first period, Josh Magennis was twice denied - once by the post and once by a goal-line clearance from Stephen Darby - while Jordy Hiwula at the other end forced a good save from Charlton 'keeper Dillon Phillips when one-on-one.

The Addicks also hit the crossbar during a purple patch for Karl Robinson's side in the opening half when Jordan Botaka's scooped cross looped up and hit the woodwork at the top of Doyle's goal.

City created most of the goal-scoring chances after the break with Hiwula twice firing narrowly wide from distance.

In between those two efforts, Hiwula was also denied by a smart save from Phillips when played in behind by Mark Marshall.

James Hanson headed straight at Phillips from a decent Josh Cullen cross while Filipe Morais, who replaced a limping Mark Marshall towards end, saw a cross-come-shot tipped behind by the visiting shot-stopper.

Charlton actually finished the game with ten men when German defender Patrick Bauer received his second caution of the game at the start of injury time for blocking off City substitute Marc McNulty.

FT: Bradford City 0 Charlton Athletic 0
90+1min: YELLOW CARD = RED CARD: Bauer is booked for blocking off McNulty as the City striker looked to burst past him and towards Charlton's penalty area.
90min: There will be four minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
90min: SUB - Charlton bring on Brandon Hanlan for Botaka.
89min: McNulty finds Morais in space on City's right flank. The winger's cross into the box actually ends up going towards goal and Phillips has to tip the effort around the post for a corner.
88min: SUB - The Bantams bring n Filipe Morais for Marshall. City's number seven unfortunately has to limp off after a hefty challenge from Chicksen.
87min: Konsa pass in-field to Botaka but his low drive from just outside the box is comfortably held by Doyle.
86min: Law connects from Cullen's cross into the box but his well-timed volley is blocked by Jackson.
82min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Marc McNulty for Hiwula.
82min: Vincelot works the ball out to Hiwula as City keep the pressure on from a corner but the striker's shot from an angle with the outside of his boot flashes a good couple of yards wide of Phillips' far post
80min: Novak takes aim from distance, his shot has the sting taken out of it by a sliding tackle from Cullen and the ball rolls through to Doyle.
76min: SUB - Charlton bring on Johnnie Jackson for Ajose.
76min: YELLOW CARD - After a couple of clashes with the Charlton striker earlier in the game, Knight-Percival is booked for a foul on Magennis just inside City's half of the pitch.
72min: Knight-Percival's pass finds Hiwula in space, the striker turns and moves towards the box before firing in a low drive from roughly twenty-five yards out that goes narrowly wide of Phillips' near post.
70min: Botaka flicks a header on from Phillips' big goal-kick towards City's penalty area. Magennis threatens to get in behind for a second but Darby and Vincelot combine to see out the danger, with the latter heading back to Doyle.
69min: YELLOW CARD - Bauer is booked for catching Hiwula just inside City's half of the pitch. Mr Haywood had to wait a minute or so to confirm the caution though, the defender needing after appearing to injury himself giving away the foul.
67min: Hanson connects with a powerful header from Cullen's cross but the effort is straight at Phillips.
65min: Dieng's low cross into the box hits off Meredith, sending the ball goalwards, but Phillips is able to comfortably gather up.
61min: YELLOW CARD - Ezri Konsa is booked for bringing down Meredith over by City's left flank midway into Charlton's half.
59min: Hiwula forces a smart reflex save from Phillips. Marshall picks out Hiwula perfectly as the striker beats Charlton's offside trap with a run in behind. Marshall's pass plays Hiwula away from goal slightly, meaning the striker has to take the shot on first time, and his effort from inside the area is pushed away by Phillips.
54min: Cullen plays Hiwula into plenty of space down City's left flank. Hiwula runs at an exposed Teixeira but the substitute defender makes a vital tackle just outside the box as City looked to make the most of a three-on-two situation.
53min: Marshall finds Hiwula in space and the City striker fires inches wide of the corner of Phillips' goal with a rising shot from just over twenty yards out!
51nin: Ajose picks out Novak as City struggle to clear the resulting corner delivery but his first time effort on the half volley from an angle flashes comfortably wide of Doyle's goal.
51min: Botaka tries his luck from all of thirty yards out and Doyle has to reach down low to his left to make a smart save and tip around the post.
50min: Hiwula beats Teixeira to Marshall's low cross into the box but the striker's first time effort flashes comfortably wide of Phillips' near post.
46min: Charlton restart the match.
HT: Bradford City 0 Charlton Athletic 0
45min: There will be two minutes of time added on at the end of the first half.
41min: City's fans behind the goal appeal for a penalty as Dieng's cross appears to hit Ulvestad on the arm. Ulvestad's arm seemed to be down by his side and not moving towards the ball at time, however, so referee Mr Haywood, probably correctly, allows play to continue.
38min: Great chance for City! Law plays Jordy Hiwula through on goal with only Phillips to beat after a well-placed pass from just outside the area. Hiwula fires low from inside the box but the effort turned behind by an alert save from Phillips.
35min: Meredith's well-timed pass plays Marshall into space down City's left wing. Marshall fires the ball low into the middle, with the cross eventually finding Nicky Law over by the far side. The Bantams midfielder fires for goal from the edge of the area but his low angled drive sails wide of Phillips' goal.
32min: Fredrik Ulvestad's looping ball over the top has Magennis interested. The imposing striker challenges Doyle for the bouncing ball, denying the City goalkeeper the chance to cleanly claim possession. Magennis tries to pounce as the loose ball bounces deep inside City's penalty area but Doyle is a second or so quicker and manages to grab hold.
27min: Josh Cullen fires narrowly wide of Phillips' far post with a low drive from roughly twenty yards.
24min: YELLOW CARD - Magennis is booked for catching Romain Vincelot with a high boot as the Frenchman looked to clear up field.
20min: Darby keeps City level! Novak charges down Knight-Percival's attempted clearance, giving the striker a free run down the right flank. Now in the box, Novak squares for Magennis, the Charlton forward shoots for goal with an effort that beats Doyle but Darby is on hand to kick away on the line. The ball breaks free to Crofts outside the area but his first time shot sails comfortably over.
17min: From Lee Novak's cross into the box, Magennis heads onto the roof of Doyle's net with a looping effort.
16min: Botaka hits the bar for the visitors in slightly fortuitous circumstances. The winger gets past Knight-Percival before sending over a scooped cross that actually loops up and hits Doyle's bar.
14min: Hanson gets up above Bauer to reach Marshall's cross first but the striker's header from roughly ten yards out is straight at Phillips.
13min: Magennis hits the post for Charlton! Nicky Ajose finds his strike partner inside the box, Magennis gets a yard on Stephen Darby before firing in a low angled drive that rattles against the base of Doyle's far post. Magennis retrieves the ball over by the byline and looks to pick out a team-mate in the middle but City manage to clear their lines from his resulting low cross.
12min: Magennis' long throw-in into the box is headed out by Timothee Dieng. Crofts is first onto the loose ball outside the box but his first time effort on the half volley sails comfortably over Doyle's bar.
9min: Josh Magennis turns away from Nathaniel Knight-Percival to give himself a run into City's penalty area. Knight-Percival wrestles with Magennis as the defender tries to recover his ground before the visiting striker eventually bundles the ball off Colin Doyle and out for a corner.
6min: Hanson goalwards with a downward header from Marshall's resulting corner delivery but Andrew Crofts is in the right position a yard or so in front of his own line to block and then kick clear.
6min: James Meredith's cross into the box is controlled by James Hanson. The striker turns and shoots for goal from just inside the box and his bouncing shot has to be turned behind by Dillon Phillips for a corner.
3min: SUB - Sure enough, Charlton have to replace the injured Pearce with Jorge Teixeira.
2min: City win an early corner when Patrick Bauer heads behind from Mark Marshall's teasing cross into the box. Bauer's centre-half partner, Jason Pearce, appears to be struggling with a groin injury though. Play is halted as he receives treatment.
0min: The Bantams kick off the match. They will attack towards The Kop Stand in the first period.
