BIG MATCH PREVIEW - SCUNTHORPE UNITED (H)

24 December 2016

SCUNTHORPE UNITED (HOME) - Monday 26 December 2016, Sky Bet League One, Northern Commercials Stadium, kick off 3:00pm

The Bantams entertain league leaders Scunthorpe United on Boxing Day in an eagerly-anticipated festive encounter at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

A bumper crowd is expected inside Valley Parade to see Stuart McCall's men pit their wits against the current pace-setters in Sky Bet League One.

The Iron have been in hugely impressive form throughout the 2016/2017 campaign so far, leading the way at the top end of the division for all but a few weeks.

Scunthorpe are currently three points clear at the top of the table, ten points ahead of McCall's fourth-placed Bantams.

Graham Alexander's side did lose their previous league fixture on the road, however, when they were defeated 3-2 at Rochdale earlier this month.

Team News

Bradford City
Bantams striker Billy Clarke is likely to miss Monday's festive fixture with Scunthorpe as the Irishman continues on the road to recovery from a troublesome calf problem.

Clarke aside though, City boss Stuart McCall is expected to have a virtually fully fit squad to choose from for the visit of the table-toppers to Valley Parade.

Scunthorpe United
Iron left back Conor Townsend is scheduled to miss the next month of action with a groin problem.

As a result of Townsend's injury, fellow defender Harry Toffolo is likely to keep his place in Scunthorpe's back four.

Centre half David Mirfin is sidelined until roughly the middle of next month with a foot injury.

Monday's match could give Iron winger Josh Morris his first chance to make a return to Valley Parade following his departure from City last summer.

The former Bantam has been in impressive form for Scunthorpe so far this season, netting 15 times himself and setting up a number of other goals his Iron team-mates.

Previous Visits
City have entertained Scunthorpe twice before over the last two seasons in Sky Bet League One.

With both sides keen on pushing for a play-off spot, a second half goal from substitute Steven Davies helped City to edge a tight encounter 1-0 back in April.

Roughly fifteen months earlier, the Bantams were heading for another 1-0 success over Scunthorpe thanks to Rory McArdle's opener but an injury time leveller from Hakeeb Adelakun saw the visitors snatch a share of the spoils.
