The Bantams deservedly picked up their first win of the new 2016/2017 season thanks to Jordy Hiwula's first half winner at Peterborough United.

Hiwula netted the all-important goal after only eleven minutes when he swooped to head home past Peterborough 'keeper Ben Alnwick following Tony McMahon's well-placed cross.

With City looking in control for long periods, Stuart McCall's men could have doubled their advantage in the second period but Josh Cullen, who was hugely impressive on his second debut for the club, fired wide from McMahon's pull-back.

Peterborough - a side who had netted six goals in their first two games - ended the game with four attackers on the pitch but City's defence stood strong to earn all three points and their third clean sheet on the trot.

FT: Peterborough United 0 Bradford City 1
90+4min: YELLOW CARD - Meredith is booked for dissent late as City look to finish the job with barely seconds remaining.
90+3min: City lead a four-on-two counter attack as Peterborough push men forward! Anderson tries to pick a team-mate out with a low centre into the six-yard box but Alnwick is able to gather up the ball.
90+2min: The ball bobbles dangerously around City's penalty area, Anderson looks to strike for goal from close range but Vincelot is in the right place to make the vital block!
90+1min: YELLOW CARD - Anderson is booked for a late tackle on Taylor over by City's left flank.
90min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
89min: Great play from Meredith sees the left back eventually tee up Hanson and the big striker fires narrowly over with a rising strike from just inside the box.
88min: Law's short corner with Cullen results in the latter crossing into the box for Hanson, who fires over on the half-volley from inside the penalty box.
86min: Coulthirst plays Maddison into space in behind City's defence with a well-timed pass from around the half-way line. With Nathaniel Knight-Percival coming across to try and cover, Maddison shoots for goal as he makes his way into the box and Doyle gets a hand on the low effort to tip it around the post.
85min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Paul Anderson for Marshall.
85min: Nichols fires high and wide with a hopeful effort from outside the penalty box.
84min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Billy Clarke for Hiwula.
81min: Maddison fires for goal but the effort from outside the box sails over. A goal kick was initially awarded before Mr Handley changes his decision and gives a corner. City manage to clear their lines from the resulting set-piece.
79min: SUB - Peterborough bring on Jermaine Anderson for Forrester.
77min: White's hanging ball into the box has Nichols interested. The Peterborough out-jumps McMahon to the ball but his downward header is wide of the goal.

67min: Maddison's curling delivery from a wide free-kick into the box is sent over the bar via a glancing header from Bostwick.
65min: McMahon's hanging cross towards the far post is headed down into the box by Hanson but Peterborough are able to clear before a nearby Hiwula can look to pounce.
63min: Marshall's effort from the resulting free-kick strikes the wall. The ball breaks out to Daniel Devine but midfielder's first time effort on the half-volley from the edge of the box trickles wide.
62min: YELLOW CARD - Jack Baldwin is booked for barging into Hanson just outside Peterborough's area as the pair challenged for the ball in the air.
60min: Forrester strikes from outside the area after winning possession but his rising drive sails harmlessly over the bar.
59min: Edwards shows good pace to sprint away from McMahon and burst into City's penalty area. The Peterborough attacker looks for a second like he could be in with a run on Doyle's goal given his pace but a watchful Vincelot is able to get across and put out a corner.
58min: SUB - Peterborough bring on Callum Chettle for Da Silva Lopes.
52min: Vincelot's long pass forward is headed on by Hanson, with Hiwula behind him beating Michael Bostwick to the bouncing ball. Hiwula connects with a half-volley from a tight angle inside the area but the forward's first time effort bounces across goal and out for a throw-in on the far side.
50min: Oh, that's a good chance for City! McMahon is set free into space down City's right flank by a lofted ball over the top from Law. McMahon's pull back from the byline finds Cullen in space around the penalty spot but the midfielder's strike rolls wide of the near post!
47min: Marshall turns into shooting space inside the box before firing in a low angled drive that beats Alnwick's dive but nestles into the side-netting by the 'keeper's near post.
46min: The Bantams restart the match.
HT: Peterborough United 0 Bradford City 1
45min: There will be a minute of time added on at the end of the first half.
40min: Diligent work from both Marshall and Hanson keeps the ball alive inside Peterborough's area as the hosts try to clear their lines. Josh Cullen is the man who eventually strikes for goal but his shot isn't clear and the low drive rolls through to Alnwick.
37min: Binnon-Williams plays the ball in-field to Chris Forrester, who sees his low well-struck drive pushed away by Doyle.
36min: Taylor's shot on the turn from outside the area is deflected past Doyle's far post and out for a corner.

31min: McMahon's free-kick from roughly 30 yards out takes a deflection off the wall before dropping harmlessly into the path of Alnwick.
30min: Nicky Law gets into space over by the left hand side of Peterborough's penalty area. With Hiwula and James Hanson looking for a pull-back in the middle, Law twists and turns by the byline but the ball eventually rolls out of ball as the midfielder tries to get his cross in.

27min: Da Silva Lopes' low shot on the turn from just inside the box shortly after the resulting throw-in is easily held by Doyle.
27min: Marcus Maddison looks to play Da Silva Lopes through on goal with a forward pass but Romain Vincelot is perfectly positioned to make a vital interception, knocking the ball out for a throw-in near the far corner flag.
21min: Marshall twists and turns inside the box as he tries to evade the attentions of White. In the end though, he can only fire over the bar with a rising cross-come-shot.
20min: Paul Taylor lines one up from just outside the box and his curling effort dips narrowly over Doyle's bar.
17min: Leo Da Silva Lopes' ball from deep has Tom Nichols interested but Colin Doyle is out quickly off his line to just beat the attacker to the ball, preventing him from a clear run on goal.
16min: Referee Mr Darren Handley appears set to give City a penalty when Hayden White bundles into the back of Mark Marshall just inside Peterborough's penalty box but the City winger is firstly, and correctly, flagged offside by the linesman over by the near side.
11min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!! Peterborough United 0 Bradford City 1 - The Bantams have the lead through Jordy Hiwula!
