A strong second half showing from Stuart McCall's Bantams ensured City secured a come-from-behind victory over Coventry City for their third straight league win on the trot.

A thirteenth-minute strike from Daniel Agyei had given Coventry a deserved lead at the break but two penalties from Tony McMahon sandwiched either side of a stunning strike from Mark Marshall earned all three points for McCall's men.

All three City goals against Coventry came with eight minutes during the second period as City turned the game on its head following an out-of-sorts first half display.

McMahon's first penalty - City's leveller - saw Coventry defender Jordan Turnbull given a straight red card after he had hauled back Billy Clarke inside the box.

The win gives City their best start to a league campaign since 1997 and lifts them to third in the Sky Bet League One table after four games.

Following some early pressure from Coventry, including a shot well-saved by Colin Doyle from former Bantam Kyel Reid, the visitors took the lead through Sky Blues debutant Agyei.

The powerful forward, who signed on loan at the Ricoh Arena from Burnley during the week, turned Romain Vincelot on the edge of the box after being fed the ball by Ben Stevenson.

Josh Cullen tried to get back with the recovering tackle as the striker moved into the box but Agyei's shot bobbled up over Doyle and into the net.

Coventry continued to look the more likely scorers during opening exchanges of the first period, with Agyei looking a particular nuisance up front, before City slowly worked their way back into the contest.

Nicky Law could have equalised on the stroke of half time after being played into space by Billy Clarke but his shot from inside the box was blocked behind by an alert Jordan Willis.

Regrouping at the break, City began after the restart on the front-foot, although they had to be thankful for a superb sliding tackle from McMahon to rob Reid after the winger had been played in by Agyei.

Clarke, Daniel Devine and Mark Marshall all tested Reice Charles-Cook in the Coventry goal before the Bantams were given a chance to level things up from the penalty spot.

Vincelot played Clarke in behind Coventry's defences with a well-placed ball over the top. Now in the box, the striker looked to get his shot away but he was dragged back by Turnbull, resulting in a spot-kick to City and a red card for the centre half.

Charles-Cook guessed the right way for McMahon's resulting penalty but the spot-kick had too much power and placement as the ball found the net.

Just two minutes later, City were in the lead thanks to a brilliant effort from Marshall. The winger cut inside onto his left foot from the right flank before drilling in a low drive from distance that whistled past Charles-Cook's despairing dive and into the bottom corner.

City were rampant at this stage and they had another penalty in the game shortly afterwards when Cullen was tripped inside the box by Vladimir Gadzhev.

McMahon took responsibility again, sending Charles-Cook the wrong way this time for City's third goal of the afternoon.

The Bantams could have had fourth eight minutes from the end but Marshall was denied by a fine goal-saving block from Lewis Page after Charles-Cook had parried out Clarke's shot inside the box.

The only downside for City in the closing minutes was the sight of McMahon limping off with a suspected thigh injury.
