The Bantams were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a commanding display from Phil Parkinson's men at Shrewsbury Town's Greenhous Meadow.

In charge of the game from the very off, City dominated their hosts for large spells before eventually taking the lead via a header from Jamie Proctor midway into the second period.

Proctor's goal - his fifth of the season for the Bantams - looked set to deservedly secure City a fifth win on the trot until Shrewsbury striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro headed in from a Mat Sadler free-kick into the box.

Akpa Akpro's header was Shrewsbury only effort on target in a game which also saw City register seventeen corners and a number of scoring chances.

In only the ninth minute, Billy Clarke saw a goal controversially disallowed for offside.

Kyel Reid's deflected cross appeared to be heading in off Abu Ogogo before Clarke made sure on the line, only for the Irish attacker to be denied by the linesman's flag despite looking onside.

Later in the half, Clarke saw a shot repelled by Shrews shot-stopper Jayson Leutwiler after Tony McMahon's low free-kick had found him unmarked inside the box.

Shrewsbury made a substitution just before the break and then two ahead of the restart after the interval to try and halt City's dominance but Parkinson's men actually became even more of a threat in the second period.

City's bench were up appealing for a penalty early into the half when Proctor seemed to be wrestled to the ground by Ogogo as he looked to get on the end of McMahon's delivery following a short corner routine.

Much to the annoyance of City's coaching staff and their large away following behind the goal though, nothing was given by referee Andy Haines.

Shortly afterwards, Proctor played Billy Clarke in with a clear sight of goal but his effort was stopped by Leutwiler before Ogogo kicked behind to prevent Lee Evans from tapping in.

With City stepping up the tempo, Reid then fired dangerously across the face of goal before McMahon saw a shot tipped around the post by Leutwiler roughly a minute later.

Leutwiler was involved again twenty minutes from the end when he made a superb save to tip away Proctor's header from a Reid cross.

Proctor and City weren't to be denied for long though. From the resulting corner, McMahon fed the ball back into the box after his initial delivery was cleared and Proctor fought his way clear of his marker to power a header into the corner.

At that point, City looked to be heading towards their fifth 1-0 win in succession but they were pegged back six minutes from the end.

Ben Williams came out to punch clear from Sadler's deep free-kick but Akpa Akpro beat him to the delivery into the box to head into an unguarded net.

There was still time for City to threaten again but Steven Davies could only head narrowly over the bar a minute from the end of normal time following fellow substitute Filipe Morais' cross.
