Around 30 members of the two organisations came to see City train before meeting the players and management afterwards for a few photo opportunities and a chance to chat with their heroes.
To top off the day's fun, some of the members took part in a penalty shoot-out on one the club's main training pitches. The shoot-out was led by Parkinson himself, with first-team goalkeeper Joe Cracknell going in net for the final few kicks - the winning penalty-taker was even mobbed by the watching City players!
The visit was part of a programme of activities by the club during Level Playing Field's Weeks of Action. The annual initiative celebrates and raises awareness of access and inclusion for disabled supporters and is now in its eleventh year.
The club's activities began ahead of last Saturday's home fixture with Scunthorpe United when a group of Bradford Disability Club and Bantams DO members took part in a 'disability dash' - walking along Midland Road to the Coral Windows Stadium.
Other planned activities over the next week or so include Bantams DO's first AGM at the Coral Windows Stadium this Thursday and the launch of the 'Being A Bantam' disabled supporters photography project ahead of this Saturday's home game with Swindon Town.
The Football Supporters Federation have also sponsored a disabled player to take part in the club's 'Play It Like A Pro' event next Monday (11 April 2016).
Level Playing Field (LPF) is a registered charity that believes that being a disabled person is a social issue and that an individual only becomes disabled because of the social, attitudinal and environmental barriers that the individual faces (known as the social model of disability).
Disabled people constitute the largest minority group at around 15% of the population and this number is increasing year on year. Naturally, a large number of disabled people are football fans too and we are pleased to take this opportunity to thank our own disabled fans for their continued loyalty and dedication to this great club.
