Routis has been missing since damaging his hamstring during the first half of the recent home game with Gillingham.
He has, however, taken part in a week of running with Head Physio Matt Barrass.
Tony McMahon has been troubled with a virus since the start of the season, missing the last two games as a result.
He spent last week at home recouping but he is now back at the club's training ground.
City boss Phil Parkinson said: "Chris has been making some good progress recently.
"He is ahead of Tony slightly at the moment.
"Tony has had to rest up since before the Barnsley game due to his virus.
"We have the all clear with him now and we're going to ease him back in.
"We'll see how he does in training before looking towards the weekend."
