Sky Bet League 1
Saturday 26 September 2015

Attendance: 17,970 (458 visitors)

The Bantams fell to a frustrating home defeat by a Peterborough United side led by new manager Graham Westley for the first time.

Two goals in a minute for the visitors ultimately proved the difference between the two sides to hand City their first defeat in sixth.

Lee Angol swooped for Peterborough's opener shortly before the hour mark to fire home on the rebound on close range after Brad Jones had saved Marcus Maddison's shot.

Less than sixty seconds later, Peterborough doubled their lead with their very next attack when Souleymane Coulibaly's blocked shot fell into the path of Chris Forrester, who fired under the body of Jones from deep inside the box.

The pattern of the game could have been different, however, following substitute Steven Davies' near-miss at the start of the second period.

Following a corner from Lee Evans, who once again delivered a number of quality set-pieces throughout the game, Davies powered a header goalwards but saw his effort pushed onto the post by Ben Alnwick.

Davies was brought onto the field in the first half following a nasty looking injury to Paul Anderson.

Anderson came off worse following a crunching 50-50 tackle with Michael Bostwick which left the Bantams winger requiring a visit to the hospital for an x-ray.
FT: Bradford City 0 Peterborough United 2
90+8min: Davies tumbles down in the box as a Meredith cross into the box deflects into his path. The striker claims he was pulled back but no penalty is given.
90+7min: Hanson heads over from Evans' resulting corner.
90+6min: Hanson flicks on Meredith's long throw-in into the box before Davies sees his header for goal flick off a Peterborough player and behind for a corner.
90+3min: SUB - Peterborough bring on Jack Collison for Forrester.
90min: There will be six minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
88min: Taylor's wide free-kick delivery finds Angol from close range but his header flashes just wide.
83min: SUB - Peterborough bring on Jon Taylor for Oztumer.
82min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Dylan Mottley-Henry for Marshall.
77min: YELLOW CARD - Evans is booked for dissent following the award of a free-kick against City midway into Peterborough's half.
76min: SUB - Peterborough bring on Conor Washington for Coulibaly.
73min: Another superb Evans delivery from another wide free-kick finds Cole unmarked deep inside the box but the ball hits the striker's shoulder instead of his head and bounces away.
71min: Knott's teasing cross finds Davies unmarked deep inside the area but the striker's connection isn't clean unfortunately and the ball bobbles away.
70min: Evans' teasing delivery into the box from a wide free-kick causes problems in the Peterborough defence but Bostwick is eventually able to clean from right in front of his own goal.
69min: Oztumer fires the resulting free-kick narrowly wide of Jones' far bottom corner.
68min: YELLOW CARD - Knott is booked for bringing down Maddison as the attacker surged towards City's penalty area.
67min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Billy Knott for Liddle.
64min: Bostwick's drive from outside the area flashes wide.
63min: Maddison tries his luck from the short-worked free-kick that follows but his curling effort from distance goes wide of goal.
62min: YELLOW CARD - Reece Burke is booked for a late tackle on Angol inside City's half of the pitch.
59min: Cole bursts into the box at pace but the ball is pushed away from him by a diving Alnwick. Davies tries to fire goalwards with the rebound but his effort on the stretch from a wide position inside the box sails over.
57min: GOAL - Bradford City 0 Peterborough United 2 - Forrester stuns City by doubling Peterborough's lead barely a minute later. Coulibaly twists and turns in the box before seeing his shot blocked. The deflection falls nicely to Forrester, who fires under the body of Jones from close range.
56min: GOAL - Bradford City 0 Peterborough United 1 - The visitors take the lead through Angol. Coulibaly's pass into the box finds Maddison, who sees his shot saved by Jones. The rebound falls nicely for Angol, however, and the striker smashes home from barely yards out.
51min: Oztumer's forward pass has Jones and Coulibaly both racing for possession. Coulibaly just gets a touch on the ball to knock it away from the Bantams shot-stopper but Jones is first to the loose ball a second time and eventually able to cling on.
48min: Davies is denied from a Lee Evans corner! The substitute gets free from the Welshman's set-piece delivery but his powerful downward header is tipped onto the post by Alnwick! Coulibaly then clears the loose ball behind for another corner.
46min: Peterborough restart the game.
HT: Bradford City 0 Peterborough United 0
45min: There will be five minutes of time added on at the end of the first half, mainly due to Anderson's injury.
43min: Mark Marshall's cross is met by Hanson but his firm header on the stretch is held by a diving Alnwick.
40min: Smith's low drive from just outside the box takes a touch off James Meredith on its way through to goal but Jones is still able to cling on with relative ease.
38min: YELLOW CARD - Angol is booked for catching Jones as the Bantams 'keeper looked to kick up field.
35min: SUB - Thankfully, Anderson doesn't need a stretcher to leave the field at all, instead hobbling off while supported by Physio Chris Royston and a member of the St Johns Ambulance. Anderson is replaced by Steven Davies, who it seems will begin on the right wing.
32min: A sad sight here at the Coral Windows Stadium as Anderson is down in agony after coming off worse following a crunching 50-50 tackle with Michael Bostwick. A stretcher is now entering the field.
31min: Coulibaly's overhead kick from the edge of the box is comfortable enough for Jones.
30min: City nearly score in fortunate circumstances! Anderson charges down an attempted clearance, leading to Alnwick coming to the edge of his own box to claim the loose ball. The block from Anderson leads to back-spin on the ball, however, meaning it actually spins away from Alnwick and towards Hanson, who heads past a stranded Peterborough shot-stopper. Devante Cole tries to pounce on the loose ball and fire into an unguarded goal but Gabriel Zakuani is crucially on hand to kick clear just in time.
27min: Peterborough spring forward on the attack as Maddison finds Souleymane Coulibaly in space wide. The striker cuts inside past Gary Liddle before curling a drive from just outside the area narrowly over the bar.
23min: Callum Elder's pass into the middle from wide finds Maddison lurking but the attacker's effort from just outside the box dribbles comfortably wide.
21min: Marcus Maddison is teed up by Michael Smith but his low drive from outside the area flashes harmlessly wide of Brad Jones' far post.
15min:YELLOW CARD - Anderson is booked for catching Lee Angol as the Peterborough attacker burst forward into City territory.
11min: Stephen Darby's cross into the box is headed down by James Hanson into the direction of Paul Anderson but Ricardo Almeida Santos vitally manages to kick the ball away just before the Bantams winger can trouble Ben Alnwick from close range.
3min: Erhun Oztumer attempts to curl a free-kick goalwards from just outside the box but the effort hits the City wall and bounces out for a throw-in.
0min: The Bantams kick off the match. Phil Parkinson's men will attack towards the T.L Dallas Stand end in the first half.
