City's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round tie with Barnsley at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday was postponed barely five minutes before the original kick off time due to a waterlogged pitch.
Torrential downpours leading up to kick off left the Valley Parade playing surface unplayable. With further heavy rain forecast throughout the night, the decision was made not to even begin the tie.
Match officials came out to test the pitch just after 7:30pm, with the ball unfortunately not rolling or bouncing correctly in certain areas.
As a result, the kick off time was initially put back five minutes before the game was officially called off shortly afterwards.
No new date has been confirmed for this tie as of yet. The club will endeavour to update supporters as soon as possible.
