SEASON TICKETS GO GLOBAL!

14 May 2015

Fans in both the US and Australia take up the £149 offer!

With the Club’s season ticket campaign underway, the low prices have not only gone down very well with Bradford City fans and football fans in general but now the news is spreading to all four corners of the globe!

The topic was hot on social media upon release and it seems to have certainly encouraged more fans to purchase with £149 price tag even encouraging fans living overseas to get in on the act.

Brendan Russell-Cooper is one such City fan who was born and raised in West Yorkshire but moved across the globe to Australia. Asked why he bought a season ticket, Brendan explained the following, ‘Despite emigrating to Sydney some 22 years ago and, having just retired, we are coming back over the next year to spend a bit more time with friends and family and do a bit of travelling around the UK and Europe (between home games)’ The attractive price proving too good an opportunity to miss and in fact. He added

‘I have followed City's results closely having been a supporter from being very young - I was at Darlington with my Dad in 1969 when we got promoted for the first time in 40 years and actually went to Wembley to see City play Swansea a couple of seasons ago.’

Brendan believes the Season Ticket target of 15,000 sales is an achievable one, knowing full well the support the club has been getting in recent years, and he is looking forward to being one of them.

‘I know what a strong latent following the club has had for many years and with the success of recent seasons I think your target of 15,000 season ticket sales is very achievable and I¹m looking forward to being one of them, cheering on the side at the Coral Windows!’

‘I think the 149 pound price is absolutely fantastic - 6.50 a game. I could not pass up the opportunity to buy, even though I¹m currently 10,500 miles away.’

Another exiled Bantam, Gary Lennon resides in Tennessee in the USA. ‘I started going in about 1964 with my mum and older brother. In my first twelve years I don't think I missed a home game and got to see a lot of away games.’

‘I have been out here since 2002 and keep up with things via the many City orientated websites (principally Claret and Banter and Width of a Post).’

So why did Gary buy his season ticket despite living thousands of miles away?

‘It’s a great offer, it deserves support. I could afford it and I might get to use it if I can get back any time during the season. The pricing is fantastic.’

Bradford City’s Chief Operating Officer James Mason welcomes the support from abroad and hopes others will follow suit, ‘I was made aware of Brendan and Gary’s commitment to the Club and asked them why they wanted to do it knowing they didn’t live in the area. The overriding feeling was that at £149 it was a price they could afford to pledge their support from afar and acknowledge what we are trying to do to make football accessible for all fans. It would be great to get other fans that maybe cannot get to games for whatever reason to feel they are making the difference. Who knows there may be supporters in other areas of the World that could buy a ticket maybe and ask it to be used or donated to others who can get to every game. It’s a lovely thought.’

We would like to thank both Brendan and Gary for purchasing Season Tickets, and for their brilliant support. Anyone with a similar story can get in touch with the club by emailing lukegallagher@bradfordcityfc.co.uk
