City entertain Crawley in the league this Tuesday evening before playing host to Reading in the last eight of the F.A Cup just four days later.
The Reading match is understandably being viewed by many as one of the games of the season for the club but McArdle says City's squad have a greater understanding of how to balance league and cup duties having already played mouth-watering ties against Chelsea and Sunderland earlier this season.
McArdle said: "The one thing we can take from this cup run is that we have still managed to keep our concentration and keep picking up league results along the way.
"The lads are getting used to balancing the league and the cup now - it is just literally a cause of taking it a game at a time.
"There will be nothing better for us as players than going into Saturday knowing we already have a win under our belts this week and three important league points in the bag."
With City chief Phil Parkinson declaring that changes will be made for the Crawley fixture, McArdle is also wary of the fact that, if nothing else, players will be using Tuesday's night game as a chance to stake a claim for a place in the team against Reading.
McArdle added: "We know we have a good competitive squad.
"There is quality in the starting eleven and there's quality from the lads on the bench.
"I think it shows the faith the manager has in his entire squad that he is willing to make changes for Tuesday.
"He believes the lads coming in can put a performance in for him - he trusts them.
"For the players coming in for Tuesday, the ball is in their court really.
"If they want to give the gaffer a selection problem (for Saturday), I don't think there's anything better than putting a good performance in and helping to get three points.
"If that happens, it should give the gaffer a massive decision come Saturday.
"From his point of view, he'll probably want that. He'll want two players to choose from for roughly every position hopefully off the back of a win."
