CITY FLY OFF FOR PORTUGAL TRAINING BREAK

22 March 2015

Phil Parkinson's Bantams flew out to Portugal this Sunday to begin a four-day training break in the country.

After thirteen games in just seven weeks, Parkinson's men have taken advantage in a brief break in their hectic fixture schedule to take in some warm weather training in southern Portugal.

The Bantams set off from Leeds/Bradford airport early this Sunday morning and they are scheduled to return to England on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their home fixture with Oldham Athletic next weekend.

The Oldham fixture will begin a run of nine matches in just four weeks for City which will take them up to their final home game of the season against Barnsley.

While Parkinson acknowledges the Portugal trip will be used as an opportunity to recharge some batteries within the squad following a busy recent run of games, the City chief insists training ground work is still also very much on the agenda.

Parkinson said: "This trip is a good chance for the lads to get away and refocus ahead of another busy period of games coming up.

"We took the players away to Tenerife a couple of seasons ago for a similar trip and we have been lucky to be able to do something again thanks to the revenue from our FA Cup run.

"This week will be our only free week from the start of February until the end of April so it is an ideal opportunity to get the lads away as a group.

"It is important that we give the lads the time to relax but we're also out there to work. We have managed to arrange a suitable facility which will allow us to put some quality training in while we've over there."
