MEREDITH EAGER FOR YORK REUNION

19 June 2015

Bantams left back James Meredith says he is looking forward to the prospect of returning to former club York City following Tuesday's Capital One Cup first round draw.

Phil Parkinson's side were handed a trip to York in round one of this season's Capital One Cup competition. The game is set to be City's second of the new campaign following their season opener at Swindon Town three days earlier.

Before his move to the Coral Windows Stadium in 2012, Meredith spent three full seasons with the Minstermen, winning the FA Trophy and gaining promotion up into the Football League during his time with York.

The Australian defender missed City's previous visit to York just over two years ago due to glandular fever, meaning, if selected, Meredith will be making his first return to Bootham Crescent when the two sides meet in August.

Meredith said: "For me personally, the York game is obviously going to be a really exciting match.

"Last time we played at Bootham Crescent I had glandular fever so hopefully - touch wood - I will be available for selection for this one.

"It will be a fantastic occasion for me. I have some good memories of my time at York - getting to Wembley twice - so it would be nice to go back there and play well."

Below is a preview of the interview with James when he caught up with Bantams Player this week.
