CAPITAL ONE CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW DATE CONFIRMED

6 June 2015

The date for the Capital One Cup draw for the upcoming 2015-16 has been confirmed as Tuesday 16th June, just a day before the fixture list for the league season is revealed.

To see who City are paired with for the 1st round of the competition, visit the official website on the date of the draw.

City had a decent run in the competition last season, before embarking on an unforgettable FA Cup run. After seeing off League 2 Morecambe in the first round thanks to a late Aaron Mclean goal at The Globe Arena, the draw for the second round saw Phil Parkinson's side handed a tasty West Yorkshire derby with Leeds United.

The game against Leeds at Valley Parade saw City come out on top. Goals from Billy Knott and James Hanson wrapped up the victory after Matt Smith had opened the scoring and began a flurry of goals in the final ten minutes of the game.

The Bantams exited the competition in the third round at the hands of MK Dons at Stadiummk. Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe was the hero with both goals in a 2-0 victory.

The winners of last year's Capital One Cup was Chelsea, who saw off London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium with John Terry and Diego Costa on the scoresheet to claim Jose Mourinho his first piece of silverware since returning to Stamford Bridge.

In 2013-14, City exited the competition at the first hurdle to West Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town at The John Smith's Stadium. James Vaughan scored a brace for the hosts and despite Nahki Wells' late goal for the visitors, it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.

Of course, the season before (2012-13), City reached the final of the competition. After seeing off Notts County, Watford, Burton Albion, Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and Aston Villa; the Bantams fell to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City at Wembley Stadium.

Who knows what The Capital One Cup has in store for the upcoming season!
