PARKINSON LOOKING FORWARD TO FARSLEY FRIENDLY

11 July 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says fans can expect to see a mixture of first team faces and some of the club's youngsters on show when City kick off their summer programme of pre-season friendlies at Farsley Celtic this Saturday (11 July 2015).

With a few minor injuries around the camp during the first two weeks of training, Parkinson may elect not to risk some of his senior players for the visit to Throstle Nest (kick off 3:00pm).

Stephen Darby is definitely out as he looks to rid himself of a stomach issue while the likes of Rory McArdle (knee), Billy Knott (ankle) and Steven Davies (achilles) may also miss out.

Summer signings Tony McMahon, Josh Morris and Luke James are set to feature, however, although young American forward Jonathan Lewis is likely to be involved with the club's youth team friendly at Everton instead.

Parkinson said: "A few of our younger players are going to get a chance to play, which is great for them.

"This will include some of the lads we have given professional contracts to and some the players we have in our youth set-up.

"We will have a few trialists on show as well.

"Some of the senior boys will miss out though. We have had a couple of knocks around the squad but it is something you tend to get at this stage of pre-season.

"They will probably get their first taste of football when we get to Scotland.

"Stephen Darby has probably been the main one really. He has a stomach problem which he played with towards the end of last season.

"We thought we would be able to rectify it over the summer but it as flared up again.

"He has seen a specialist about it now, however. He has given Stephen an injection and he is hopeful that will solve the problem.

"As normal, it will be our intention to mix things about and play roughly one different team per half."
