Parkinson's men travel to Turf Moor this Saturday for their final scheduled pre-season match of the summer before kicking off their league campaign at Swindon Town next weekend.
Burnley will be looking to use the game as preparation for their Championship opener with Leeds United following the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League last season.
The game will also act as a testimonial for long-serving Burnley defender Michael Duff - the brother of former Bantams defender Shane.
Parkinson said: "Michael is a good professional and we are glad we are doing our bit to bring a good crowd into the ground on Saturday.
"We ideally like to play a Championship side during our pre-season schedule, preferably towards the end, and Burnley will be a good challenge for us.
"Burnley are a good Championship side and they worked extremely hard to try and stay in the Premiership last year.
"They have a great work-ethic within their squad and they received a lot of plaudits for their efforts last season. They will fancy their chances of getting back up there next season.
"It will be interesting to compare ourselves to them physically and technically.
"Burnley clearly have some good players at their disposal but we feel we have some good players within our squad as well.
"We need to use this game as another opportunity to get the minutes under our belts so we are ready to go come next weekend.
"Saturday's game gives us another opportunity to work on our organisation - set-pieces for and against and other bits of detail across the pitch.
"It will be a good test, and one we are looking forward to."
With the trip to Swindon coming up on the horizon, Parkinson is expected to name a strong starting eleven against Burnley.
Following his recent progress from a stomach problem though, City skipper Stephen Darby could be in line for a run-out during the last 15-20 minutes of the friendly.
Parkinson added: "We still have some players playing catch-up at the moment, Stephen Darby being one of them, but we do expect him to play some part in the game at the weekend.
"That is a big boost for us because he is a key character for the club.
"It has been good to have him back on the training pitch this week."
