Just over 48 hours after drawing 2-2 at Port Vale, Parkinson's men will line up against third-placed MK Dons at the Coral Windows Stadium this Monday evening in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
With Jordan Pickford suspended following his injury time red card at Vale Park, Parkinson will be forced into at least one change for the visit of the Dons.
One look at City's bench against Port Vale at the weekend shows that Parkinson does have options available should he wish to freshen things up further for Monday.
City will be in training this Sunday preparing for the MK Dons match, and Parkinson, keeping his cards close to his chest in terms of team selection, says he will simply be looking to pick the best team possible for the home match.
Parkinson said: "We will just be selecting what we feel is our best side for the match, simple as that really.
"We did the same at Port Vale. We didn't pick that side with Monday in mind, we went with the side which we felt was best to play on the big Vale Park pitch.
"We will have a look at MK Dons over the weekend and we will set ourselves up to be as strong and as competitive as we can be.
"It is important that we are really positive as well.
"We have two exciting home games to look forward to this week. MK Dons under the lights and in front of the television cameras, and then Sunderland in the F.A Cup Fifth Round.
"Monday is the sort of game that makes you excited to be in football.
"It is an occasion we are going to relish."
