City entertain Southend United at the Coral Windows Stadium this Saturday (12 December 2015) for their first match in Sky Bet League 1 in two weeks.
The Bantams overcame Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division side Chesham United last Sunday to book their place in the Emirates FA Cup third round.
Following the victory, City were pitted away to Bury in the third round draw - a game which is scheduled to take place over the weekend 9/10 January 2016.
With five League 1 games between now and then, Parkinson wants City to focus on being in a strong league position by the time they make the trip to the JD Stadium.
Parkinson said: "Our aim last Sunday was to get into the third round and to make sure that we were still in the FA Cup after Christmas.
"Our aim now is to make sure we go into that Bury tie at the start of January in the best league position possible.
"That work begins on Saturday against Southend United."
