WE ARE DOWN TO THE BARE BONES

9 April 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson admits his options for this Saturday's trip to Gillingham are limited and he has called on his remaining fit players to rise to the challenge.

Parkinson's men travel to Gillingham this weekend looking for a win to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for a League 1 Play-Off spot.

With Gary MacKenzie (ankle) and Andrew Davies (hamstring) expected to miss out again due to injury, City will also be without Christopher Routis following his red card against Preston North End last time out.

Andy Halliday remains a doubt due to his own hamstring problem, while Mark Yeates could be sidelined as well after a long-standing shoulder issue cropped up against both Doncaster Rovers and Preston over the Easter weekend.

Parkinson said: "We really are down to the bare bones for this match - what a great challenge for the players and staff though.

"The task is to roll our sleeves up and get back on the coach with the points.

"As we know, Chris is out as he serves a one-match ban.

"With Yeatesy, I feel a bit for him. He played great at Doncaster and then his shoulder popped out.

"He declared himself fit for the Preston game because he's a tough lad but we've brought him off the bench on Monday and it has popped out again.

"Yeatesy wants to be involved again this weekend, which is great, but we have to be careful with him.

"We have to decide now whether to leave him out of this one (Gillingham) to try and get him right for Tuesday night (vs Bristol City).

"Mark always wants to play though no matter what discomfort he is in.

"After this Saturday, we will have players coming back from injury and Chris Routis will be back from suspension.

"Andy Halliday has returned to training today (Thursday) so the squad will start to thicken up again after the weekend."
