THIS SATURDAY IS A BIG GAME FOR US

22 April 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has acknowledged the importance of Saturday's final home game of the season against Barnsley, and he wants his players to give it their all to ensure they do the game justice.

This Saturday's Yorkshire derby fixture at the Coral Windows Stadium against Barnsley will be the final chance for home supporters to see Parkinson's men before the conclusion of the 2014/2015 campaign.

The game is also City's first home match since their humbling heavy loss to champions Bristol City.

Most importantly though, the fixture will give the football club and its supporters the opportunity to once again reflect and remember the 56 supporters who tragically lost their lives in the Valley Parade fire disaster nearly 30 years ago.

With the 30th anniversary of the fire disaster under three weeks away now, City will be holding their traditional minute's silence ahead of kick off on Saturday.

Parkinson said: "We now have the last home game of the season coming up at the weekend, and this is a big game for us.

"This Saturday is clearly going to be a special match and an emotional one with the 30th anniversary of the fire disaster coming up.

"It is very important that we mark that occasion properly and do it some justice in the way we play.

"We always speak about showing what it means to wear a Bradford City shirt, and I want to see real pride and commitment out there come Saturday.

"Obviously we know that the last time we were at home (against Bristol City), we were very disappointing to say the least.

"This Saturday is the last chance our home fans will get to see the lads perform before the summer break. Win, lose or draw against Barnsley, we need to show the same sort of commitment we've shown in this last two games (Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United).

"We have restored some pride in these last two games after the Bristol City loss but I really want the lads to put in a performance to remember at the weekend.

"I've said to the lads in the dressing room afterwards, we need one big push for this one. Every player has to really look after themselves between now and Saturday and really be ready to give it their all for this one."
