LET'S FINISH THIS RUN OFF ON A HIGH

23 September 2014

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson hopes City can finish off their recent run of successive long haul away journeys with progression through into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

Parkinson's side travel to Milton Keynes Dons this Tuesday for their Capital One Cup third round tie against the fellow Sky Bet League 1 team.

Following on from the league matches at MK Dons and Colchester United, the cup tie is City's third consecutive long distance away trip in eight days ahead of back-to-back home games against Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra.

With four points collected from those two recent league fixtures, Parkinson wants the Bantams to finish off their motorway marathon with one more big effort.

Parkinson said: "The players are in a good place about this game and they want to finish this week off well.

"This week and the games on our travels this season have given us confidence for this match.

"This competition obviously has a special place in our thoughts after our achievements of a couple of seasons ago.

"We've already had one big draw so far this season with the Leeds United game and we want to give ourselves the opportunity to earn another one.

"To earn that Leeds draw, however, we had to put in a big effort at Morecambe in the first round. We will need to do that again on Tuesday night."

City's first trip to stadiummk resulted in an impressive 2-1 victory for Parkinson's men in League 1 last Tuesday.

Parkinson added: "We will obviously be looking for the same structure and discipline from the players, keeping that shape that makes it hard for them to break us down.

"Clearly it is not all about defence though, we need to find ways of creating scoring opportunities to give us the chance to progress in the competition."
