PITCH WORK TAKING PLACE

28 May 2014

With all of the matches for the season now having been played out at the Coral Windows Stadium - including last weekend's 'Play It Like A Pro' fixture - work on revitalising the pitch ahead of the 2014/2015 campaign has now begun this week.

Led by City groundsman Mick Doyle, work has started to ensure the Valley Parade playing surface will be in tip top condition for City's forthcoming Sky Bet League 1 fixtures next season.

The main focus of this week's work is to re-seed the pitch at the Coral Windows Stadium while also applying over 30 tonnes of Fibresand onto it.

Fibresand is a sand product that helps to provide extra stability to the turf surface, meaning it should be more resistant to divots.

On top of the work to the Valley Parade pitch, City groundstaff also oversaw the installation of some on-pitch, pop up sprinklers last week.

The in-field sprinklers will enable the central part of the playing area to be watered overnight in a similar fashion to other areas of the pitch.

City's next scheduled match at the Coral Windows Stadium is their pre-season friendly with Championship side Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 26 July 2014.
