LINCOLN REMEMBERS

11 May 2014

On this day, 11 May, let us not forget our friends from Lincoln City, who tragically lost two supporters in the Valley Parade fire disaster.

Below is a brief article placed on Lincoln's official website as the Imps also take the time to reflect and remember the horrific events of 29 years ago.

Please take time out today to remember those who lost their lives in the Bradford City fire disaster 29 years ago today.

Saturday 11th May 1985 was a day that should have gone down in Bradford City history for all the right reasons as, prior to kick-off in their final game of the season against the Imps, their skipper Peter Jackson - later, of course, to become manager here at Sincil Bank - was presented with the Division Three championship trophy.

But a day of celebration turned to a day of tragedy when fire engulfed the main stand at Valley Parade. Fifty-six supporters, including two City fans - Bill Stacey and Jim West - died as a result of the fire.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of them all.
