OIAM plans for primary school

11 March 2014

“One In A Million to collect signatures to gauge support for a new Primary School, located within the multi million pound urban village regeneration in Bolton Woods, Bradford”.

Bradford-based charity One In A Million plan to open a Primary School in September 2015. The school will offer a unique learning experience that is themed across sport, the arts and enterprise, framed around a connected and creative approach to learning.

The culture and ethos of the School will grow from an outstanding learning community where children, parents and staff encounter irresistible learning opportunities together.  Its innovative, motivational curriculum will support aspirational levels of achievement while protecting the child’s right to be nurtured in a supportive, caring environment. Play and relevant real life experiences will form the heart of the child’s learning offer at the school.  It will also prize character-building as much as academic achievement in order to uphold One in a Million core values.

The One In A Million Primary School will build on the charity’s established, successful work in the disadvantaged communities of Bradford. Its secondary free school, based next to Bradford City's Coral Windows Stadium home ground, already using their outstanding facilities to work with children in and out of school.

The preferred locality of the proposed school would be within Bolton Woods. This area is currently the subject of major regeneration project for a mixed-use development by Canal Road Urban Village Ltd. This will eventually provide approximately 1250 new houses, a new local centre with food store and improved sports and leisure facilities, in a mixed-use urban community. The first 46 houses are currently being built and will be completed this year.
