Fresh from their comfortable 3-0 victory over Guiseley in their opening friendly of the summer, Parkinson's squad make their way to Ireland on Sunday to begin their week-long stay in the Emerald Isle.
The time in Ireland will be City's third of its kind in successive summers under Parkinson after previous trips across the Irish Sea during pre-season ahead of the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 campaigns.
With a week of hard training planned at their hotel base and two friendlies scheduled in the diary against local opposition, Parkinson knows the benefits that can come from trips of this nature.
Parkinson said: "As a group, we are really looking forward to going to Ireland now and stepping up our preparations for the season.
"The hotel base we will be using has all the facilities we may need - including football pitches on the grounds.
"This week away will allow us to do some good work on the training ground with the group - including the new lads - in the mornings and the afternoons.
"This will be one of the main benefits from the time away.
"We have two games over there as well (UCD on the Tuesday and Shelbourne on the Saturday) so we want to come back with the group in a better shape than when we left.
"After 45 minutes today (Saturday), we will be looking to give the players 60 minutes and 30 minutes in those two games.
"We've got underway today and off the mark at Guiseley with a win and a few goals, and we're looking forward to moving onto Ireland now."
