Sky Bet League 1 market moves

6 January 2014

Brentford have ousted Wolves as Sky Bet League 1 title favourites for the first time this season after the Molineux club lost to Gillingham on Friday.

Kenny Jackett’s men went into the game as 6/5 title favourites having headed the betting all season, but the 1-0 loss saw them drift out to 13/8.

That meant Brentford stayed top of the division and moved into 11/8 favourites without having to kick a ball, with Wolves now second in line in both the odds and the table.

Brentford began the season as 7/1 outsiders for the title and have been as long as 28/1 on the back of a poor spell in October, but they’ve taken 37 points from a possible 39 in their last 13 games.

Wolves have won just one of their last seven league games and are three points behind the Bees having played a game more, but they’re still fancied for promotion at 3/10.

Meanwhile, the win saw Gillingham climb up to fourteenth in the table but they remain a long shot to finish in the top six at 33/1, though they were 40/1 prior to collecting the three points.
