CHESTERFIELD BAN SUPPORTER FOR LIFE

15 December 2014

Chesterfield have confirmed to the football club that they have banned one of their supporters for life after they were found to have made offensive comments online following Saturday’s game at the Proact Stadium.

The man taunted Bradford fans via the Internet about the fire at Valley Parade in 1985, which claimed the lives of 56 people.

Spireites chief executive Chris Turner said: “We launched an immediate investigation into this matter after receiving a number of complaints from Bradford City fans who were understandably upset about the comments made by this person.

“It is totally unacceptable behaviour which will not be tolerated by this club. Having identified the individual involved, the appropriate action has now been taken.

“Furthermore, we will be referring this matter to the police, inviting them to investigate whether any criminal offences have been committed.”
