NEXT UP: HARTLEPOOL

1 August 2014

City play their final friendly of pre-season this Saturday (2 August 2014) when they welcome Sky Bet League 2 side Hartlepool United to the Coral Windows Stadium.

With only seven days days to go until the club's season opener with Coventry City, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson could look to give the majority of his starting eleven 90 minutes against Pools.

Parkinson is likely to stick largely with the group of players who started last weekend's friendly with Blackburn Rovers, although Raffaele De Vita is definitely ruled out due to the thigh injury he picked up during the Blackburn fixture.

Lewis Clarkson is also unavailable after feeling his hamstring in the first half of Tuesday's win over Bradford (Park Avenue).

Despite making genuine progress over the last week or so following a calf problem sustained towards the start of pre-season training, Aaron Mclean is unlikely to be risked either.

Midfielders Gary Liddle and Matthew Dolan - both of whom have played for Hartlepool in the past - are in line to feature against one of their former clubs this Saturday.

In a similar fashion to last Saturday's Blackburn game, Parkinson is likely to name some trialists on his bench as the City chief maintains his search for new recruits for the forthcoming campaign.

Along with manager Colin Cooper, who was on City's coaching staff back in 2011, Hartlepool are expected to have Bantams old boys Matthew Bates and Jack Compton in their ranks.

Experienced duo Jonathan Greening and Tommy Miller could also play some part against City after recently joining Hartlepool on trial.
