A late strike from substitute Aaron Mclean booked City's place in the second round of the Capital One Cup after a hard-fought encounter with League 2 side Morecambe.

Just over ten minutes after coming on, Mclean latched onto the end of a cross from fellow second half replacement Billy Knott before bundling the ball over line.

The hosts protested that Mclean had used his hand in the process of netting City's winner but the goal stood to ensure Phil Parkinson's side secured victory from the first round contest.

The home side are suggesting that the Bantams striker forced the ball in using his hand but the goal stands.
78min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Mo Shariff for Clarke.
77min: Running with the ball, Clarke is able to drive deep into Morecambe's penalty box but his eventual cross on his weaker right foot drifts over Roche's crossbar and out.
75min: Devitt picks out Mullin just outside the box but the substitute's effort fails to trouble Williams as it flies over the crossbar.
73min: After a neat one-two with Clarke, Mclean fires for goal from outside the area but his low effort is straight Roche, who gathers up in comfortable fashion.
69min: SUBS - The Bantams bring on Billy Knott and Aaron Mclean for Morais and Yeates respectively. The changes mean City have gone back to the diamond line up in midfield, with Clarke just behind Mclean and Hanson in attack.
69min: Clarke robs the ball off the toes of Wright just outside the Morecambe penalty but, despite having Hanson in support inside the box, the striker elects to shoot early and fires disappointingly wide of the target, wasting a decent opening in the process.
66min: Devitt tries a chip from just inside the Bantams' penalty box but the effort lacks the power and elevation to trouble Williams, who jumps up to gather by his near post.

59min: Devitt cuts inside from Morecambe's left flank before dragging a low drive from distance wide of Williams' near post.

53min: Bright play from Redshaw on the edge of City's penalty area eventually sees the ball drop invitingly into the path of Ellison but the Morecambe man lifts his effort over the bar by a fair distance.
46min: The Bantams restart the tie. After playing with the diamond-shape in midfield for the first half, City seem to be using a more standard flat four look in the second period, with Yeates on the left wing and Morais on the right.

44min: Oh so close for the Bantams! Morais' cross into the area sees Hanson out-jump Parrish and header the ball past a rooted Roche  - only for the recovering Mark Hughes to get back and kick clear off the line.
41min: Ryan Williams strikes for goal from around 25 yards out but his well-struck effort is competently held by his namesake Ben.
38min: Ellison takes aim from distance but, with Kennedy at his back, the former Bantams loanee can only scuff a low strike meekly off target and Williams can comfortably gather.
36min: Redshaw runs with the ball at pace inside the City half of the pitch but his eventual low shot from distance rolls tamely well wide of Williams' goal.
32min: After a Morais shot from outside the area is blocked, Dolan picks up the loose ball and strikes for goal himself. His strike deflects up off a Morecambe defender before looping narrowly wide and behind for a corner.
28min: Matthew Dolan plays Hanson into space inside Morecambe's penalty area before the striker turns inside Goodall and forces a decent save out of Roche with his legs.
24min: YELLOW CARD - Kevin Ellison is booked for catching Mark Yeates late just inside Morecambe's half near to the managerial dug-outs.
21min: Jamie Devitt's deep delivery from a corner is headed back across the box by Alan Goodall before a lurking Andrew Wright heads over in the middle.
16min: Filipe Morais' teasing cross into the area drops into the path of the lurking Clarke around ten yards from goal. The striker seemed to be expecting the nearby James Hanson to connect with the cross, however, and the ball appears to simply bounce off him and roll through to Roche.
12min: Andy Parrish's clever ball down the line sees Jack Redshaw in behind Alan Sheehan and with an opportunity to surge into the Bantams box. With a recovering Sheehan unable to touch the striker for risk of giving a penalty away, Redshaw drives deep into the area but can only stab an effort wide of Ben Williams' goal from a relatively tight angle.
7min: Billy Clarke latches onto a bouncing ball forward to shoot forward from distance but the striker's half-volley sails a good yard or so wide of Barry Roche's goal.
1min: James Meredith's long throw-in into the area bounces dangerously across Morecambe's six yard box before Laurence Wilson swoops in to head clear.
