Building on their morale-boosting victory over Leyton Orient last weekend, City enjoyed almost all the major scoring chances throughout the contest at Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium.

The Bantams hit the bar in the second half through a Adam Reach header, while Coventry 'keeper Joe Murphy denied strike partners Aaron Mclean and Jon Stead with fine saves in the first period.

Mclean also saw an effort from close range from a corner blocked by Blair Adams close to half time.

In front of a sparse crowd of less than 1,700, the game never got close to the thrilling contest both sides served up live on Sky Sports back in November but Parkinson's men did look the most likely winner for the most part.

Despite not taking their chances though, especially during a purple patch in the first half, the draw with Coventry makes it four points and two consecutive clean-sheets from back-to-back away fixtures in recent days for City.

68min: Mclean flicks a long kick forward into the path of Stead but the striker's first time effort on the half-volley sails wide of the target.

65min: Mark Marshall fizzes low ball across the six yard box thankfully beats everyone before going out for a goal-kick over on the far side.

58min: Carl Baker plays Nathan Eccleston into space behind City's defence but McLaughlin is out quickly and blocks with his legs. The effort wouldn't have counted even if McLaughlin hadn't made the save, however, after the striker was flagged for offside.

52min: Reach hits the bar! Bennett gets away from Blair Adams over on City's right wing before fizzing over a cross that finds his fellow winger unmarked. Reach heads for goal with an effort that beats Murphy's dive but smacks against the woodwork.

46min: The Bantams restart the match.

45+1min: Christie cuts inside from Coventry's right flank before firing in a low left-footed drive from just outside the area that Jon McLaughlin gathers easily.

45min: There will be one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.

44min: A Dolan corner delivery nearly works out in the Bantams' favour when Mclean pounces on the loose ball to fire goalwards from deep inside the box. Mclean's effort in front of goal is powerfully struck but Blair Adams manages to get his body in the way to block. Seconds later, Stead nearly takes advantage of a slight fumble from Murphy as City keep the attack alive but the forward can only poke over.

42min: Jones' free-kick delivery into the area from deep is headed down in the area by Andrew Davies to allow Adam Reach to race onto the ball. Reach strikes for goal but his effort is deflected behind by David Prutton.

26min: Murphy denies City again! Kyle Bennett's clever pass forwards picks out Jon Stead in a pocket of space but the striker's shot, which looks destined for the bottom corner, is brilliantly pushed around the near post by the Coventry's shot-stopper.

21min: Oh so close for City! Carl McHugh's flighted cross into the area finds Aaron Mclean in space but the striker's header is superbly crawled away by a diving Murphy.

20min: Adam Reach does well to get the better of Cyrus Christie right near the corner flag before driving towards the area. Reach cuts the ball back to the waiting Dolan, who sees his shot from just outside the area blocked behind for a corner by Jordan Willis.

11min: Jones picks up Aaron Mclean's pass and strikes for goal but his low effort from around 20 yards out bobbles wide of Murphy's goal.

8min: Gary Jones' wide free-kick is cleared by Coventry as far as the lurking Matthew Dolan on the edge of the hosts' penalty box. Dolan takes aim but his looping half-volley is held by Joe Murphy.
