Tranmere game brought forward a day

18 September 2013

Bradford City Football Club has today (Wednesday) announced that their forthcoming Sky Bet League 1 home fixture with Tranmere Rovers has been switched from the Saturday to the Friday (11 October 2013) with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The game, which will take place at the Coral Windows Stadium, has been moved forward to the Friday at the request of West Yorkshire Police as an EDL (English Defence League) demonstration is due to take place in Bradford city centre on the Saturday afternoon.

Following the confirmation of the change, the club has expressed its disappointment that the switch of dates was necessary.

A Club spokesperson said, “ While the demonstration may not have a direct effect on the area around the stadium, both Bradford City and Tranmere Rovers fans would be using the same transport links at the same time as those involved in the demonstration.

"We have, therefore, agreed to the request from West Yorkshire Police to make the change”.

The club would like to express its thanks to Tranmere Rovers and the Football League for their support with the switch of this game to the Friday night.

The football club's ticketing systems will be altered now to show the new date on all future sales and, of course, any ticket sales that show the Saturday date will be valid for the game on Friday night.

Bradford City would like to extends its apologies to anyone who is inconvenienced by the change to Friday night and hopes that spectators will appreciate that this is a measure that is being taken on the advice of West Yorkshire Police to ensure the smooth running of the policing operations for both Friday night and the following day.

Both the Police and the club thank fans for their co-operation and support in this matter.
