Bantams assistant Steve Parkin is confident that there is much more to come from City on the road as the Bantams head to Gillingham this weekend looking for their first away win on the season.
While City's impressive form at the Coral Windows Stadium in the early stages of the new campaign has been clear for all to see, Phil Parkinson's men have only shown glimpses of their undoubted potential in their first three away fixtures.
One defeat and two draws from the Bantams' opening away games is certainly nothing to be sniffed at, but there is definitely the feeling that City have the capability to achieve further positive away-day results given their praiseworthy start to life back in League 1.
Parkin feels the Bantams have shown their true colours in flashes away from Valley Parade this season and he is confident they have what it takes to produce a competent and consistent display at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium this weekend.
He said: "The lads' efforts to get back in the game in the second half last week (vs Colchester United) was magnificent. We now go on the road and it is important that we show the mentality, intensity and endeavour required to hopefully pick up our first away win (of the season).
"We know you need to be battle-hardened and expect anything that is throw at you away from home. There are teams that flourish away from home but, on the whole, I think those teams are few and far between.
"We have had some really good spells away from home this season but they have been a little spasmodic in terms of how long they have lasted during games.
"If you go back to the Bristol (City) game, there was a twenty-minute spell in the second half where we were absolutely sublime. If we'd have scored then instead of conceding on the counter-attack, we would probably have gone on and won the game.
"I think there is certainly much more that the lads can produce over a ninety-minute period.
"The one thing about this group of players, however, is that they have shown that they never give up.
"They never know when they are beat, and they have proved that on a couple of occasions again this season already when we've fallen behind and still had the spirit and tenacity to come back in games."
After earning the League 2 title last season, Gillingham head into this Saturday's encounter still looking for their first win of the new campaign.
With the home support behind them, Martin Allen's men are likely to try and target this weekend's game as a chance to break their duck and Parkin says City know that they have to be prepared for a stern test.
He added: "We have to be ready to face any side Gillingham pick head on.
"We know it will be a physical game and we know, like any game in this division, it will be a tough match.
"We are familiar with their manager and their assistant manager, and we know that are very determined people.
"They will be striving hard for that first win at the weekend but we just have to take care of our own business though. We have to get our own players ready and up for putting in a performance worthy of winning the game.
"Whether such a performance will win us the match obviously remains to be seen, but if we play like we know we can, there is every chance that is possible.
"Having come across each other in League 2 last season, we know their players very well and I am sure they will know our players well also.
"I just think Saturday's game could well boil down to the team that concentrates the longest and who works the hardest throughout the ninety-minute period will be the team that prevails.
"We have certainly been drilling into the players this week that they will need to be out of the blocks from the very off. Gillingham, perhaps, are still finding their feet in this division and it seems like they have been playing well in some matches and not getting their just rewards.
"We are ready for a tough game ahead, but it is just important from our point of view to concentrate on what we are doing."
