We're ready for Devon trek

11 March 2013

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says City are looking forward to their long journey to Plymouth Argyle at the beginning of this week - their first of two trips to the South Coast within five days.

With a match at Exeter City at the weekend to follow Tuesday's fixture at Plymouth, Parkinson's men now face back-to-back trips to Devon after salvaging a draw from last Saturday's match with Aldershot Town thanks to Alan Connell's injury time penalty.

City, who will set off for their match with the relegation-threatened Pilgrims this Monday, are likely to face a several-hour journey to their southern base but, with the Bantams keen to build on their recent four match unbeaten streak, Parkinson says his squad will go there in high spirits.

Parkinson said: "We are ready for this important week on our travels.

"I thought the lads were immense on Saturday. I've said it before but given the amount of games we've had and the intensity of those games this season, you have to give them great credit to have the fitness and desire to snatch back a point for us (against Aldershot).

"The season is still very much alive for us but we have to make sure it stays that way.

"The two long journeys that we now have to undertake are part and parcel of football. We certainly won't be moaning about it. Plymouth and Torquay have to do journeys of this nature for a lot of their away matches.

"It might be the right time to freshen things up and make a few changes. It's something we'll have to look into.

"Good players and good teams don't look to make excuses though. As I say, we're looking forward to it.

"Plymouth now find themselves at the bottom of the league after the weekend, and they will be scrapping for absolutely everything come Tuesday.

"We have to match that endeavour, however, and show enough ourselves to put us in a position to get a positive result from the match."
