Oldham away game changed

28 June 2013

The football club can confirm that City's Football League 1 fixture at Oldham Athletic has now been moved to Sunday 1 December 2013.

The Boundary Park fixture, which will still kick off at 3:00pm, has been moved back exactly twenty-four hours from its original slot on Saturday 30 November.

The fixture has been moved to the Sunday to avoid a potential clash with the Rugby League World Cup Final, which is also scheduled to take place on Saturday 30 November approximately 15 miles down the road from Oldham at Manchester United's Old Trafford ground.

With both Oldham and Bradford areas historically having strong links with the game of Rugby League, it was felt that playing the fixture at the same time as the World Cup Final could harm attendance figures and leave supporters with a difficult choice to make, especially if England were to end up as one of the finalists.

Despite having fellow Yorkshire teams Sheffield United and Rotherham United with them in League 1 for the 2013/2014 campaign, City's trip to Oldham will be their nearest away match of the league season.

No midweek fixture is scheduled for after the weekend of 30 November/1 December for City, meaning no further fixtures should need to be altered as a result of this slight change to the Bantams' diary.
