Duke to join Northampton

24 June 2013

Bantams goalkeeper Matt Duke has agreed to join League 2 side Northampton Town.

Duke, who will officially move to the Sixfields Stadium when his current City contract expires next Monday, has signed a two-year deal with the Cobblers.

The Sheffield-born shot-stopper will leave the Coral Windows Stadium having made 52 appearances for Phil Parkinson's men since joining City back in August 2011.

Upon leaving Valley Parade, Duke will probably be most remembered by City fans for his part in the club's truly historic run to last season's Capital One Cup Final.

The 36 year-old put in outstanding displays in the cup ties against Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and Aston Villa to help the Bantams' pick up those three prized Premiership scalps on their way to the grand final.

Duke will move to the Cobblers having already featured for Northampton during a loan spell from City towards the end of the 2011/2012 season.

The club would like to thank the goalkeeper, who was popular with both players and fans alike around the Coral Windows Stadium, for all his efforts during his time with City and wish him all the very best for the future.
