Athlone game added

19 June 2013

The football club can now reveal details of the other friendly fixture they will take part in during their week-long stay in the Republic of Ireland next month.

After yesterday (Tuesday) confirming their match with Airtricity Premier Division side Bohemian FC for Saturday 20 July, City can announce that they will also be playing against Airtricity First Division team Athlone Town.

The Bantams' game with Athlone will take place on Tuesday 16 July - four days before City's clash with Bohemians the following weekend.

The match will kick off at 7:45pm.

Athlone, who are currently positioned second in the first division table, are based at their 5,000 capacity Athlone Town Stadium. The town of Athlone itself is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Dublin.

Former Bantams midfielder James O'Brien is currently on the books at Athlone and might be a familiar face to any City supporters making the journey across the Irish sea.

Signed by then-City boss Stuart McCall, Irishman O'Brien made 28 appearances for Bradford during the 2009/10 season before moving to St Patrick's Athletic in July 2010.

Ticket details for City's match with Athlone will be confirmed in due course.
