McBurnie makes scoring start with United

30 July 2013

City apprentice Oliver McBurnie made a scoring start to his brief spell with Manchester United as he helped the Red Devils ease to victory in their opening Milk Cup encounter.

Starting United's game against County Antrim this Monday evening, McBurnie made an almost instant impression when he netted in only the fifth minute.

McBurnie would go on to play the full ninety minutes for United as the Lancashire giants eventually secured a comfortable 3-0 victory.

The young striker is currently with United at the Milk Cup - an annual international youth tournament held in Northern Ireland - after City agreed to let him to join them on a temporary work experience move.

McBurnie will be with United for the remainder of their time at the tournament after the Red Devils contacted City to see if they could help out following a recent string of injuries to their attackers.

United's next match in the tournament is scheduled for this Tuesday evening against American side South Coast Strikers.

Once United's time in the competition is over, McBurnie is scheduled to return to City to continue the second year of his scholarship with the club.
