Continuing his assessment of Thursday's defeat, Horne said City's apprentices on show last night did themselves no favours and that some of them just don't understand what is required to become a professional footballer in today's game.

"What better motivation is there than that?"

"The Gaffer (Phil Parkinson) and Parky (Steve Parkin) came in the dressing room before the game to wish them all the best and that they would be sat in the stand watching.

Speaking to the club's official website, Horne said: "Steve and myself mentioned the fantastic achievements of the first team and their desire and passion to win games no matter what the opposition, along with the fact we would be facing Liverpool in the next round if we won.

City's Head of Youth Development Peter Horne was bitterly disappointed by last night's F.A Youth Cup exit for the Under 18s at home to Histon, but admitted that himself and Youth Team Manager Steve Thornber will not be accepting any excuses from their players as there quite simply aren't any.
