npower League 2
Accrington Stanley 1 (Amond 73)
Bradford City 1 (Connell 84)
Kick Off: 3.00pm
at the Crown Ground
Attendance: 3,010 (1,549 visitors)
A late stunner from Alan Connell secured City their first away point of the season after it had looked like the Bantams' first half dominance would end up going to waste.
City enjoyed a number of scoring opportunities as they totally bossed the opening period - the best of which coming when Zavon Hines hit the post - but it was Stanley who actually took the lead when Padraig Amond swooped to fire home Will Hatfield's cross from close range seventeen minutes from time.
Subsitute Connell was on hand, however, to rescue a point for City with his first goal for the club when he superbly lobbed over a stranded Ian Dunbavin with a first time effort from outside the area with only six minutes of normal time left.
FT: Accrington Stanley 1 Bradford City 1
90+4min: Jones pulls a free-kick from a wide position back into the path of the on-rushing Connell but the striker's effort is scuffed and actually ends up looping up onto the top of Stanley's bar before bouncing away.
90min: There will be four minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
89min: Barnett has far too much time just inside City's own penalty area to turn and clip over a teasing cross which is narrowly missed by the diving Sheppard from point blank range.
85min: SUBS - Accrington bring on Craig Lindfield for Hatfield and Karl Sheppard for Amond respectively.
84min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!! - Accrington Stanley 1 Bradford City 1 - Connell equalises in superb fashion when he brilliantly lobs home over a stranded Dunbavin with a first-time effort from outside the area.
83min: Connell sneaks in to connect with Gary Jones' low near post cross but his swipe for goal isn't quite cleanly stuck and Dunbavin can gather.
78min: SUB - City bring on Alan Connell for Doyle.
76min: Both Reid and Winnard are down briefly following a tangle around the halfway line. The pair are eventually up on their feet, however, and play can continue.
74min: SUB - Accrington bring on Charlie Barnett for Molyneux.
73min: GOAL - Accrington Stanley 1 Bradford City 0 - Stanley take the lead of the match when an unmarked Amond swoops to fire home Hatfield's low cross into the box from around six yards out.
71min: Joyce is the first onto a loose bouncing ball just outside City's area but his shot on goal bobbles harmlessly wide of McLaughlin's near post.
69min: Following some decent Stanley build-up, Romuald Boco fires a yard or so over McLaughlin's bar with a strike from around the edge of the area.
67min: SUBS - City bring on Rory McArdle and Garry Thompson for Stephen Darby and Hines respectively.
62min: YELLOW CARD - Hanson is booked for catching Murphy in the face by accident as the pair tangle for the ball by the halfway line.
55min: Both Nathan Doyle and Hatfield are down after tangling together during an aerial challenge. After the pair each receive a bit of treatment from their own physios, both Doyle and Hatfield are eventually able to continue though.
54min: A hanging cross from Hines attempts to pick out the lurking Hanson, who is unmarked at the far post. Hanson tries to stretch for the ball but he can only just get his toe-end on it to keep it from going out for a goal kick and Accrington eventually can clear their lines.
46min: Will Hatfield receives some brief treatment at the beginning of the second period after taking a whack. He is soon able to carry on though and play can continue soon enough.
46min: The Bantams restart the match.
HT: Accrington Stanley 0 Bradford City 0
45min: There will be one minute on time added on at the end of the first period.
41min: Reid shows some nice footwork to beat three Accrington defenders as he spins away from traffic and runs towards the hosts' penalty area. Reid eventually lets rip with a strike from just outside Accrington's area but his shot is bravely charged down by Peter Murphy before it can get anywhere near Dunbavin's goal.
39min: Oliver is momentarily caught out by an extremely long kick forward by Dunbavin. As the ball bounces forward towards City's goal, McLaughlin is alert, however, and races from his goal to beat Amond to the loose ball.
32min: Lee Molyneux's teasing inswinging cross is just out of the reach of the diving frame of Amond in the middle of the box but McLaughlin still has to get a hand on the effort to stop it from potentially sneaking in the bottom corner of his goal.
28min: A nice one-two between Atkinson and Hines sees the latter work himself into a nice crossing position wide of Accrington's goal and around six yards out. Hines' cross doesn't have to power to find Reid in the middle, however, and Accrington can clear.
26min: Luke Joyce has to hook clear from right underneath his own crossbar to stop Atkinson from a simple tap-in into an unguarded goal following Hanson's far post header back across goal after the giant striker had met with Hines' centre.
25min: Reid runs at a retreating Winnard only moments after the full back has received his caution. The full back, wary of the fact that he is now on a booking, wisely doesn't attempt a tackle as Reid continues into the area. After making his way into the area, however, Reid's eventual strike for goal is weak and Dunbavin can easily gather.
24min: YELLOW CARD - Dean Winnard is booked for taking out Hines just inside City's own half with a rash tackle from behind.
18min: Dunbavin has to punch clear from right underneath Will Atkinson's nose following Hanson's looping side-footed cross into the six yard box. The punch out was vital for Stanley there as Atkinson was looking to get a header in on goal from barely yards out at the far post.
17min: Hines hits the post! Hanson plays the City winger into space following a counter-attack from the visitors to leave Hines with the opportunity to bare down on Accrington's penalty area. Just as Hines reaches the edge of Accrington's penalty box, the attacker fires low across goal but can only watch on as Dunbavin gets down to his right to tip the effort onto the base of the post.
16min: Jon McLaughlin causes a moment's panic inside City's own area when he can only slice an attempted clearance up in the air following Luke Oliver's awkwardly-bouncing back-pass. Padraig Amond is the first on the loose ball by the byline but despite some initial concern, City eventually manage to clear their lines.
12min: After picking up a James Hanson flick-on, Hines turns on the ball before fizzing in a fierce drive from just outside the area that Dunbavin does well to get two strong hands onto to push away.
6min: A cross from Zavon Hines over on City's right flank eventually makes its way out to Kyel Reid on the far edge of Accrington's area. Reid takes on the strike almost instantly, with his half-volley whistling narrowly over Ian Dunbavin's bar.
0min: Accrington kick off the match. City will defend the end when the majority of their four-figure away support is housed in the first period.
