Sadly off the pace and out-of-sorts throughout the whole of the first period, City found themselves in trouble at the interval thanks to goals from Billy Bingham and Michael Spillane.

Despite a bright start to the second half, things got even worse for City when Luke Wilkinson headed home a Bingham corner shortly after the restart.

City refused to buckle, however, as Nahki Wells curled home a delightful 25 yard free-kick barely five minutes later to give Parkinson's men hope.

The belief within City's camp then grew even stronger when Wells netted a penalty just past the hour mark after Alan Connell had been felled by Dagenham 'keeper Chris Lewington from close range.

Tails well and truly up at this stage, Bradford threw everything at their hosts but they were caught on the counter-attack with fourteen minutes to go when Dwight Gayle out-paced Andrew Davies and Rory McArdle before slotting home past Jon McLaughlin.

Amazingly, City weren't done there though as Connell stooped to head home from only yards out after James Hanson had flicked on a Nathan Doyle long throw-in into the box.

City pressed and pressed to add one last goal to an action-packed half but despite Davies heading a late Doyle corner into the roof of the net, Parkinson's side couldn't rescue a point from an eventful afternoon.

72min: Gayle heads a yard or so wide of the post following Bingham's free-kick floated to the far post.

66min: Referee Mr Gibbs turns down a massive appeal for a penalty to City when Wells appears to be bundled over from behind by Wilkinson. Wells looked to be through on goal before the tangle with Wilkinson - nothing is given, however, despite the Bantams' protests. There was some doubt whether the incident took place inside the area or not but the Bermudian certainly seemed to be felled.

63min: Connell is now finally allowed back on the pitch after having his nose patched up.

62min: Nathan Doyle tries to catch out Lewington with a quickly-taken free-kick but his attempted lob from around 30 yards out is easily gathered by the Dagenham 'keeper.

61min: YELLOW CARD - With Connell off the pitch receiving treatment for his knock to the face from Lewington, the Dagenham 'keeper is booked for his actions.

60min: PENALTY TO CITY - The Bantams are awarded a spot-kick when Lewington is penalised for catching Connell in the face with an outstretched hand as the striker looks to head home following a Oliver flick-on.

58min: A low effort from Hanson from the edge of Dagenham's area is straight forward for Lewington.

51min: A direct Gayle free-kick around 20 yards out is deflected behind for a corner off the Bantams' wall.

49min: Connell flicks a loose ball inside Dagenham's area goalwards but the early attempt doesn't catch out Lewington, however, who is able to gather easily.

47min: Hanson is merely inches away from tapping home a fizzing Wells centre across the six yard box! With the goal gapping, Hanson desperately stretches to reach the cross but the ball agonisingly flashes across the six yard box untouched.

HT SUB - Alan Connell is brought on for Zavon Hines just before the beginning of the second half. City look set to line up in a 4-3-1-2 set up with Connell just behind Wells and Hanson in attack.

45+1min: Following a swift Dagenham attack, Bingham curls narrowly wide of McLaughlin's far post after being given too much time to shoot for goal inside City's penalty area.

44min: An inswinging Bingham free-kick from out by Dagenham's right flank drops narrowly wide of McLaughlin's far post after deflecting off the head of James Meredith.

39min: Wells lays the ball off to Atkinson just outside Dagenham's penalty area but the winger's low effort for goal has the pace taken out of it by a deflection off a defender and Lewington can gather easily.

36min: Atkinson fires well wide of the target with a half-volley from around 20 yards out after a Hanson flick-on had bounced up into his path.

32min: McArdle runs to the near post to try and connect with a low Bantams corner but he narrowly misses out on making a meaningful touch on the ball and Dagenham can eventually clear.

30min: James Hanson connects with a Wells cross into the area but his header has the sting taken out of it by Ogogo and the ball pops up comfortably for Chris Lewington to gather.

24min: YELLOW CARD - Wells is cautioned for accidentally catching Luke Wilkinson high with a stray boot as the Bermudian looked to block the Dagenham defender's clearance.

20min: YELLOW CARD - Gayle is booked for catching McArdle late as the City right back looks to clear forward midway into the Bantams' half.

20min: Sam Williams tries to burst his way through for a clear sight of McLaughlin's goal deep inside City's penalty area but the combination of Rory McArdle and Andrew Davies just about close him off.

18min: Luke Howell fires a low angled drive across goal and just wide of McLaughlin's far post after a half-cleared Dagenham free-kick had fallen to him just outside the Bantams' area.

15min: Bingham drags an effort comfortably wide of McLaughlin's goal after taking aim around 20 yards from goal.

12min: Wells fires well over with an acrobatic overhead kick after the resulting throw-in had been allowed to bounce inside Dagenham's area.

12min: At the other end, Nahki Wells seems to be in a yard of space behind Dagenham's defensive lines for a moment but Adu Ogogo recovers to clear the danger with a sliding tackle just outside the area.

12min: After Bingham had won possession around 20 yards from goal, Gayle instantly fires forwards with a half-volleyed effort on the turn. The effort bounces awkwardly in front of McLaughlin but the City 'keeper still gathers the ball first time.

6min: GOAL - Dagenham & Redbridge 1 Bradford City 0 - The Bantams fall behind early thanks to a well-taken strike from Billy Bingham. Jon McLaughlin initially does well to save Sam Williams' fierce drive following a Dwight Gayle cross into the box but Bingham drills home the rebound with a strike from just inside the area.
