Bantams begin Irish tour

City arrived safely in Ireland this Sunday to begin their week-long trip to the country as Phil Parkinson's men look to step up their preparations for the forthcoming 2012/2013 campaign.

The Bantams departed from Manchester Airport for Dublin this afternoon before decamping to their hotel base around half an hour outside the Irish capital.

All eighteen of Parkinson's first team squad members, including recent signing Alan Connell, have made the trip to the Emerald Isle.

The travelling party also included Stephen Darby and Garry Thompson after the pair were not risked for Saturday's 7-1 friendly win at Tadcaster Albion due to slight knocks.

The Bantams will also be joined by at least three trialists during their time in Ireland.

Along with a week of intense training, City's players will take part in two games against local opposition as part of the tour.

Parkinson's men are scheduled to face League of Ireland First Division side Wexford Youths on the Tuesday (24 July 2012) before meeting Premier League outfit Bray Wanderers next Saturday (28 July).
