Wells and Atkinson doubtful

13 December 2012

City duo Nahki Wells and Will Atkinson are both doubtful for this Saturday's League 2 encounter at Southend United after picking up minor knocks during the Bantams' sensational Capital One Cup victory over Arsenal this Tuesday.

Wells jarred his knee in the quarter final tie at the Coral Windows Stadium, while Atkinson is suffering with a hip flexor problem.

While the vast majority of those involved in the memorable match against the Premiership giants two days ago were given the day off this Thursday, both Wells and Atkinson instead came into City's Apperley Bridge training ground for treatment.

Parkinson is confident that both injuries are nothing major but he has insisted that the pair will only find themselves in contention for a start if they are deemed fit enough.

The Bantams boss said: "Will came off on Tuesday after straining his hip flexor."

"We'll have to check with Matt (Barrass, Head Physio) regarding his progress.

"Nahki has also jarred his knee. Like Will, we'll just have to see with that one.

"We won't play either of them if they are not right.

"We have the players to replace them if required.

"They (Nahki and Will) will have to be right and ready to play 90 minutes if they are to be selected."
