Bantams boss Phil Parkinson gave out as many as six competitive debuts this Saturday as he named his opening eleven of the season for City's Capital One Cup Round One tie at League 1 Notts County.
With Andrew Davies not risked due to a slight thigh problem, summer signings Stephen Darby, Rory McArdle and James Meredith all joined Luke Oliver in City's back four.
In midfield, Gary Jones was given the captain's armband and joined in the centre of the park by Will Atkinson.
Garry Thompson began the game on City's right flank, while fellow close season recruit Alan Connell started in attack just behind James Hanson.
Nathan Doyle, despite his lack of pre-season training, was joined among City's substitutes by apprentices Scott Brown and Forrayah Bass.
