Ready for a run out

6 August 2012

City boss Phil Parkinson has hinted that he will be ready to use Tuesday's friendly with near neighbours Bradford (Park Avenue) as a chance for some of his squad members to catch up on some game time.
The Bantams head into tomorrow evening's final pre-season fixture of the summer knowing that their season-opening Capital One Cup tie at Notts County is now just round the corner, with Parkinson likely to shuffle his pack as a result.
Latest recruit Nathan Doyle isn't expected to feature as he concentrates first and foremost on his getting his fitness levels up for the new season, but fellow summer signings Alan Connell and Garry Thompson could be involved at Horsfall Stadium.
Thompson made his first appearance of pre-season as a late substitute in Saturday's match with Bury after previously being ruled out with a hamstring problem.
After joining half-way through City's pre-season training programme, Connell has only started one of the Bantams' last four friendlies.
Parkinson said: "The players who feature on Tuesday night will be those who haven't featured so much in pre-season so far.
"For one reason or another, there have been some of the group that haven't received as much time out on the pitch as the others.
"Those guys will be given a chance on Tuesday".
