Two goals to the good after only twelve minutes, City eventually ran out 5-1 victors against the Dons, with all five of the Bantams' goals coming in an action-packed first period.
With City's five-star showing coming off the back of Tuesday night's hard-fought victory over Fleetwood Town, Parkinson was pleased to see his side managed to pick up another home maximum.
"Tuesday night was a great victory for us, and sometimes it's difficult to do that again and pick up two victories in a week," Parkinson said.
"We had to be physically ready to go again today, be ready to attack and be on the front-foot.
"Mentally we also had to be sharp and ready because we knew Wimbledon would come here looking to be stronger and ready to make amends after their heavy defeat on Tuesday (6-2 at Burton Albion).
"During the first half we felt like we could score every time we went forward and that's credit to the boys.
"Our front four - (Kyel) Reid, (Zavon) Hines, (James) Hanson and (Nahki) Wells seemed to have the beating of their own particular opponents on the pitch.
"And when you have the likes of (Gary) Jones and (Nathan) Doyle behind them ready to pick the ball up and pass it about, that's a great little balance to have.
The start half was a bit flat - not helped by the lengthy stoppage (for Curtis Haynes-Brown's injury) didn't help - but we still had some good chances to maybe score again.
"But I'll try to not be too greedy - five-one is a great scoreline.
"I don't think I've been in charge of many teams that have been five-one up at half time. To do something like that, you have to take your chances and we certainly did."
Curtis Haynes-Brown's own goal aside, all four of the goals scored by City came from different goalscorers and out of different situations.
With a nice blend of set-piece and open play goals on display in the Valley Parade first half goal-fest, Parkinson was pleased to see the full flexibility of his side on shown.
"You need to have many strings to your bow as a team," added Parkinson.
"Set-piece goals are so crucial - around 35-40% of goals come from set-plays. But you need someone who can deliver the ball into the box, we have that with Gary (Jones).
"We have a big strong side and we like to utilise that from set-pieces, equally though, some of our passing and football today was superb. We got some great goals from open play as well."
