Pre-season fixture
Saturday 4 August 2012
.City lost out to League 1 Bury in their penultimate friendly of the summer on their return to the Coral Windows Stadium after three months away
An early own goal from City 'keeper Jon McLaughlin didn't help the Bantams' cause before Lenell John-Lewis doubled Bury's advantage just before the twenty minute mark with a well-taken strike from the edge of the area.
Fellow Shakers striker Lateef Elford-Alliyu then finished off the scoring for the visitors in the second half with an equally clinical finish just after the hour.
As expected, Phil Parkinson named a relatively strong side to face the Lancashire-based Shakers.
With Ritchie Jones not risked due to a knock and Ricky Ravenhill obviously sidelined for the foreseeable future though, Parkinson chose to place James Meredith in central midfield, meaning a starting left back berth for second year apprentice Forrayah Bass.
Meredith did return to his left back slot in the second period, however, as Parkinson used the half to make a number of alterations, including introducing three trialists and apprentice midfielder Scott Brown.
Another one of City's replacements after the restart was summer signing Garry Thompson, who was given the final fourteen minutes of the game after previously missing the Bantams' first four pre-season games with a hamstring injury.
Andrew Davies missed out again with a slight thigh problem, however.
